Letter From The President
Dear Blue Max Family,
As we step into this monumental year, I am honored to serve my second term as President of Blue Max Cycle Club and to lead our organization in celebrating our 50th anniversary. It fills me with immense pride to continue the rich traditions and culture that have defined Blue Max for half a century. Since our last newsletter in 2020, a great deal has changed, and I am thrilled to share our journey and accomplishments with you.
Reflecting on the past few years, it’ s clear that Blue Max has demonstrated incredible resilience and adaptability. In 2020, we faced a significant challenge when we lost our longtime home bar, JJ’s Clubhouse. This was a difficult period for our club, with social distancing limiting our activities and monthly membership meetings being held at Adam’s home. Despite these obstacles, the Blue Max family stood strong, and our commitment to each other carried us through uncertain times
While we have yet to claim a new official home bar, we have established strong and meaningful relationships with several local establishments. Our monthly meetings are now hosted at Prism, and we have built great partnerships with Just John, Bastille, Bar PM, and the Grey Fox. These collaborations have not only provided us with welcoming spaces but have also helped us introduce the kink and leather lifestyle to new audiences within the St. Louis LGBTQ+ community. Through these partnerships, Blue Max has become more visible and continues to foster an inclusive environment for all.
In addition to our partnerships with local bars, Blue Max has been actively collaborating with other LGBTQ+ organizations in St. Louis, including the Bears, Rudis Leather Club, and the Saint Louis Crusaders Rugby Football Club. These collaborations have strengthened our presence in the community and have opened up new opportunities for shared events and mutual support. Our club’s enduring spirit and camaraderie have been evident in the success of our Leather Runs since 2020, further solidifying our reputation as a thriving and welcoming group.
As we embrace our 50th year, Blue Max is evolving to meet the needs of our members and supporters. We have expanded our online presence by offering new options to order Blue Max swag, apply for membership, pay dues, and stay informed with our online calendar and news updates. These advancements ensure that we remain connected and accessible to our growing community.
Blue Max Cycle Club has come a long way since its founding in 1974, growing from a small group of
leather enthusiasts into a cornerstone of the St. Louis LGBTQ+ community. I am incredibly proud to lead this club into its next chapter, and I invite each of you to join us in celebrating our remarkable history and exciting future. Here’s to 50 years of brotherhood, tradition, and community!
